Jewelry Care

Made to be worn. Designed to endure.

KAUREUM jewelry is created to become part of your everyday—pieces to wear, love, and carry with you over time. With thoughtful care, your jewelry can remain beautiful for years to come and, for our fine jewelry, generations beyond.

Because every metal, gemstone, and finish has different characteristics, we recommend caring for each piece according to its materials.

Everyday Care

A few simple habits will help preserve your jewelry over time.

  • Store pieces separately when not being worn to prevent scratching and tangling.

  • Avoid unnecessary contact with household cleaners, chlorine, bleach, and other harsh chemicals.

  • Apply perfume, hairspray, lotions, and cosmetics before putting on your jewelry.

  • Remove jewelry before strenuous exercise, swimming, bathing, cleaning, or activities that may expose it to impact or abrasion.

  • Handle delicate chains, clasps, stones, and settings with care.

  • Periodically inspect frequently worn pieces for loose stones, worn prongs, clasps, or other signs that maintenance may be needed.

Jewelry is meant to be worn, and signs of wear naturally develop over time. These subtle changes become part of the life and story of your piece.

Solid Gold

Our solid gold jewelry is designed for longevity and everyday wear.

Unlike plated jewelry, solid gold will not lose a surface layer of gold through normal wear. It may, however, develop fine scratches and a natural patina over time—particularly on high-polish surfaces.

To clean your solid gold jewelry at home, use warm water with a small amount of mild dish soap and a soft-bristled brush. Rinse thoroughly and gently pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Avoid abrasive cleaners and polishing materials unless they are specifically intended for fine jewelry.

24K Gold

24K gold is pure gold and naturally softer than alloyed gold such as 10K, 14K, or 18K.

Its rich color and softness are part of its distinctive character and have made pure gold meaningful for heirloom and ceremonial jewelry across generations.

Because of its softness, 24K jewelry can scratch, dent, or develop surface marks more easily. We recommend handling these pieces thoughtfully and avoiding unnecessary pressure, impact, or abrasion.

Over time, these subtle signs of wear may become part of the character of an heirloom piece.

Diamonds

Diamonds are exceptionally durable, but they are not indestructible.

To maintain their brilliance, periodically clean diamond jewelry with warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft-bristled brush. Oils, lotions, and everyday residue can accumulate around stones and settings and temporarily reduce their sparkle.

Avoid exposing diamond jewelry to forceful impact, particularly around delicate settings.

We also recommend periodically checking frequently worn diamond pieces to ensure stones remain secure.

KAUREUM works with both natural and lab-grown diamonds. The diamond type used in each design is clearly specified on its individual product listing.

Gemstones

Gemstones vary considerably in hardness, durability, porosity, and sensitivity to heat and chemicals.

For most gemstone jewelry, we recommend gently wiping the piece with a clean, soft, damp cloth and avoiding harsh cleaners.

Certain stones require particularly delicate care and should not be submerged, exposed to ultrasonic cleaning, or subjected to sudden temperature changes.

Always refer to the care recommendations provided for your specific piece when available. If you're unsure how to clean a particular gemstone, contact KAUREUM before attempting a more intensive cleaning method.

Demi-Fine Jewelry

Our demi-fine collection offers an accessible way to experience KAUREUM's design language using materials and finishes selected specifically for each piece.

Because materials vary across the collection, always refer to the individual product listing for the exact composition of your jewelry.

To extend the life of demi-fine finishes:

  • Keep jewelry dry whenever possible.

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to water, sweat, chlorine, saltwater, perfumes, lotions, and household chemicals.

  • Remove pieces before bathing, swimming, exercising, or sleeping.

  • Gently wipe jewelry with a soft, dry cloth after wear.

  • Store pieces individually in a dry place when not being worn.

Plated and surface-finished jewelry naturally changes with wear over time. The rate at which this occurs depends on frequency of wear, individual skin chemistry, environmental exposure, and how the piece is cared for.

Pearls

Pearls are naturally delicate and should be treated with particular care.

As a general rule, pearls should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.

Avoid direct contact with perfume, hairspray, cosmetics, lotions, household chemicals, and excessive moisture.

After wearing, gently wipe pearls with a clean, soft cloth before storing them separately from harder jewelry that could scratch their surface.

Do not use abrasive cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners, or harsh jewelry-cleaning solutions on pearls.

Storing Your Jewelry

When you're not wearing your KAUREUM jewelry, store each piece separately in its pouch, box, or a soft-lined jewelry compartment.

Keep chains fastened and laid flat or hung separately to help prevent tangling.

Store jewelry away from excessive moisture, direct sunlight, and extreme temperatures.

For softer metals and gemstones, separate storage is particularly important to prevent harder pieces from scratching them.

Professional Care & Repairs

Fine jewelry benefits from occasional professional inspection, particularly pieces worn frequently.

If you notice a loose stone, damaged clasp, worn setting, broken chain, or another issue, we recommend discontinuing wear until the piece can be evaluated.

KAUREUM may be able to assist with repairs and maintenance depending on the piece and nature of the work required.

For assistance, please contact us with your order number, photographs of the jewelry, and a brief description of the issue.
